- To complete background checks, Zinc may need to share your information with organisations that help verify your identity or other information you have provided. These organisations may include identity verification providers, criminal record checking services, credit reference agencies, referees and other specialist verification providers. These organisations help confirm the accuracy of the information so that the verified results of the checks can be provided to the employer who requested them. Once the checks have been completed, the verified results of those checks will be shared with the employer who requested them so they can assess your application.
-
Where biometric data (such as a facial image or video) is captured as part of identity verification, this data is used to confirm that you are a real person and to perform a face match against your identity document or other records where required. This may involve checking your biometric data against your ID document or against databases to prevent fraud.
Zinc uses Onfido’s biometric technology, your biometric data is stored securely within Onfido and is retained according to Onfido’s retention policy (90 days) whilst meeting applicable legal or regulatory requirements. It will not be used to train artificial neural networks or other machine learning models.
- Before Zinc can carry out background checks on behalf of an employer, we need you to confirm that you understand how your information will be processed and shared as described in this notice. If you choose not to confirm your understanding, Zinc will not be able to process your information or carry out the requested background checks. This means the employer who requested the checks may not be able to continue your application using the Zinc service.
-
- Zinc is a data processor acting on behalf of your employer who is the data controller of your data. However, we believe that you should have control over your work identity which is why we offer you the chance to re-use some of your background checks through Zinc.
-
- To make this possible you have the option for us to capture a duplicate set of your data and store it on your behalf. We would act as the data controller for this data. You’ll be sent a reminder about reusing your checks 30 days after they’ve been completed and if you ever want to have your data deleted, or you have any other questions, you can email our Data Protection Officer at data-protection@zincwork.com.
-
- You may withdraw your confirmation at any time by requesting that your information is deleted. If you withdraw your confirmation or ask for your data to be deleted, Zinc will stop processing your information and any stored reusable checks will be removed.
