This commitment is reflected in its strict adherence to robust child protection policies, including the implementation of 'Safer recruitment' practices, aimed at ensuring the suitability of staff and volunteers to work with children and young people.

Given the importance of DBS and CRB status updates in ensuring a pool of top-quality educators, MyTutor faced a significant challenge. Talia Allen, Senior People Ops & Experience Executive, discovered she was spending over two hours each week trying to resolve issues with their current background-checking provider. Recognising the strain this placed on the company's finances and efficiency, they sought a more cost-effective and streamlined solution to enhance HR productivity.

Meanwhile, the hiring team required a user-friendly solution for their day-to-day tasks, avoiding complex processes such as lengthy clicks to send references.

Given the slow pace experienced with their previous provider, MyTutor needed an efficient solution that was intuitive and reliable, with responsive customer support - if ever needed. With a small team managing a workforce of 250, automation was a priority. Mike’s favourite check is references as Zinc encourages people to get them done quickly. The fact that you can put someone's phone number in and they can just do it from their phone is great. You get a text message while you're on the bus like, oh the new job needs a reference. There you go. Two people done, and it's out of your head rather than having to turn your laptop on later and assigning 2 hours to complete them.
